Scarce original WWII Japanese home-front paper handheld flag set, six pieces total, all period authentic. Made of lightweight paper (NOT cloth), these flags were distributed to schoolchildren and ordinary citizens for patriotic parades, soldier send-offs and official welcome ceremonies. This collection features three Rising Sun hand flags and three matching celebration sheets with crossed Hinomaru and Rising Sun flags, printed with the character “祝”. Paper wartime ephemera like this is extremely fragile and hard to preserve intact to this day, making original surviving sets very desirable for serious collectors of Japanese wartime historical artifacts. Natural aging, creases and paper patina are present as seen in photos.
