The dimensions of the Alessi Coban RS04 are approximately 35 cm (14 inches) in width and 23 to 28 cm (11 inches) in depth. The height is about 25 cm (10 inches) up to the main body, reaching a maximum of 43 cm including the protruding water tank at the top.

Sapper used the name Coban to refer to a little town in Guatemala, in the middle of the coffee growing region that produces one of the best coffees in the world. His grandfather was a coffee planter there, and his father was born there.

Richard Sapper
Sapper was born in 1932 in Munich. In the early 1960s, he began to collaborate with the Italian architect Marco Zanuso, together they acted as design consultants for Brionvega for which they developed a series of televisions and radios. His clients include Alessi. Throughout his career, Sapper has remained keenly involved in academia, teaching at many universities. He has received numerous awards for his products, and his designs are represented in the permanent collections of many museums internationally. In 2012, Sapper received the Merit Cross of the Order of Merit from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He died on 31 December 2015.
