Item Description This tall ceramic flower vase for ikebana is titled "Vessel of Dawn" and was made by 小林英夫 Kobayashi Hideo (1951-). The slender body flares gently towards a wide foot. Dense, finely combed vertical lines cover the surface, overlaid with looping, textured white markings that give it a weathered, almost bark-like appearance. Paired arch motifs run around the shoulder. The neck and interior are covered in a dark brown glaze with a mottled finish. The base is decorated with brushed, vertical bands and carries an impressed seal. Kobayashi's work is especially favoured by ikebana masters. This vase will suit both traditional floral arrangements and contemporary display.
