Longquan celadon glaze ceramic bowl from Song dynasty
Longquan ceramic bowl of the Song dynasty, adorned with a lotus petal motif.
The slightly rounded sides rest on a short, tapering foot. The exterior is decorated with elegant interlaced lotus petals, sculpted and coated with a rich celadon glaze.
This bowl dates from the end of the Northern Song dynasty to the beginning of the Southern Song dynasty.
Its glaze is yellow with fine crackle, layered and beautiful.
In places, the glaze is slightly darker due to intrusion of earth and impurities.
The bowl is relatively large, with a perfectly rounded rim and a regular form.
The lotus petals, spaced and broad, are probably inspired by northern-style kiln wares of that period.
The exposed clay at the base, characteristic of this period, further underscores its unique character
