COBRA Collectible Pen-Style Lighter – Vintage Pipe Lighter, Gold-Plated Description: Offered for sale is a rare piece of retro engineering and an exceptionally elegant luxury accessory: a vintage, pen-style (ultra-slim) pipe lighter, gold-plated and adorned with a sophisticated, fine-checkered (guilloché) finish. The centerpiece of this lighter is located at its base, where the famous—and controversial—COBRA logo is engraved. The fluid, cursive script displays the brand name in a striking retro typeface, perfectly complemented below by a unique emblem: a coiled snake (a raised cobra) set within a rectangular border. This visual and graphic motif is highly sought after by collectors of distinctive accessories. Technical Specifications and Functionality: Ingenious Activation Mechanism: The lighter does not use conventional buttons; it is ignited via an axial sliding motion (pulling the cap upward releases the gas and opens the valve, while closing it is as simple as pushing the cap back down). Designed for Pipes: It produces a soft, stable, and clean flame, ideal for properly lighting pipe tobacco. Fine-Tuning: The flame intensity can be adjusted by rotating the body of the lighter while it is in the open position, following the "+" and "-" indicators found on its base. Fuel system: Operates on refillable butane gas (the base cap unscrews completely to access the internal valve) and features a classic flint ignition mechanism. Condition: The lighter has been tested; it ignites promptly and produces a flawless flame (as shown in the photos). It displays a superb vintage patina and very subtle signs of use on the pocket clip—commensurate with its age—which only enhance its authenticity. It has not been long-term tested for seal integrity; it is sold as a functional collector's item in the condition shown in the images. An excellent conversation piece for pipe smokers or collectors of rare, high-quality lighters!
