卖家的描述
exquisite comfortable in precious wood with delicate bone inlays arranged as small bubbles on the top of the legs and on the small plinth of the furniture, extending along the sides. In its rectangular body there are two compartments with bronze handles. The legs rise up as the main protagonists of the piece design; they are tall, slim, faceted, and attached to the main body, protruding elegantly with a slightly curved shape that ends in a small cornice also made of bone. The top is ochre marble with reddish veins and a dove chest-shaped edge with chamfered corners.
Closely following the designs of Jacques Émile Ruhlmann (1879-1933), a renowned French furniture designer and interior decorator during the Art Déco period. Since 1911, his exquisite, elegant and refined furniture, together with various decorative objects, were exhibited at the Paris Autumn Salons. He was the leading furniture designer of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. He used only the rarest and most exotic materials, such as turtle shells, ivory and tropical woods. His furniture is inspired by classical Louis XVI styles but reinterpreted and simplified. In this case, the inspiration is clear in the shape of the legs (typical of the dressings designed by Ruhlmann) and the inlay of small bone details.
On the Art Déco style
Art Déco, short for the French term Arts Décoratifs, and sometimes simply called Déco, is a style of visual arts, architecture, and product design that first appeared in France in the 1910s (just before World War I) and flourished especially in the United States, but also in Europe, during the 1920s and 1930s. Art Déco combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. At its height, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. From its beginnings, Art Déco was influenced by the bold geometric forms of Cubism and Viennese Secession; the vivid colors of Fauvism and Russian ballet; the updated craftsmanship of Louis XVI- and Louis-Philippe-era furniture; and exotic styles from China, Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt and Maya art. It featured rare and costly materials, such as ebony and ivory, and exquisite craftsmanship.
