**Important Shipping Notice**
Please note that this item will be shipped internationally from Japan.
Due to the size and weight of the guitar and its protective hard case, international shipping costs may be relatively high.

1978 Greco EG-500 – Japanese Vintage Les Paul Standard-Style Electric Guitar – Cherry Sunburst – Serviced & Adjusted
**Specifications**
Brand / Model: Greco EG-500
Type: Les Paul Standard-style electric guitar
Year: 1978 (based on serial number A785545)
Made in: Japan
Colour: Cherry Sunburst
Guitar weight: Approximately 3.56 kg
Included: Used hard case
**Overview & Cosmetic Condition**
This Japanese-made Greco EG-500 dates from 1978 according to its serial number. Its headstock bears the Greco logo and “Standard” designation. The guitar has been cleaned, inspected, serviced, and adjusted for practical playability while retaining existing components wherever reasonably possible.
The finish appears to be original, although its complete originality has not been independently verified. The guitar shows extensive age-related wear, including scratches, scuffs, dents, finish cracking and loss, discoloration, and oxidation or rust on metal parts. A relatively large area of finish is missing from the lower-left body. This may have resulted from an impact in the past, but the cause is unknown; the area has not been cosmetically restored.
The pickguard bracket mounting hole on the body side appears to have been repaired previously, and its screw appears to have been replaced. The control knobs also appear to be replacements. The complete ownership and repair history before our acquisition is unknown. This is a serviced vintage player's guitar, not a pristine or fully original collector-grade example. Please examine the photographs carefully.
**Maintenance, Frets & Setup**
The guitar and accessible hardware were cleaned; removable parts were taken off as needed. The fingerboard was cleaned and conditioned with lemon oil.
Localized fret wear was addressed by fret leveling, crowning, and polishing. Fine sanding or polishing marks may remain, and the finish is not intended to be cosmetically factory-new. Approximate fret height was measured manually with a caliper at three selected locations, each giving a reading of about 1.0 mm. These readings are reference values only: they do not establish uniform height across all frets or a percentage of remaining fret life. Original factory fret dimensions are unknown.
The neck was adjusted to approximately straight with slight forward relief. The truss rod responded normally within the adjustment range needed for the current setup; its full range of travel was not tested.
New 10–46 strings were installed for setup and testing and are included as a complimentary consumable. String action at the 12th fret is approximately 1.0 mm (1st string) and 1.5 mm (6th string). Intonation was adjusted. Sound output was checked at all fret positions, with no significant fret buzzing or dead notes observed during normal playing under the present setup. Results and preferred action may vary with playing style, and further adjustment may be needed after international transport.
Approximate scale length: 628 mm (based on a 314 mm nut-to-12th-fret measurement). Approximate nut width: 43 mm. These are manual reference measurements, not verified factory specifications.
**Electrical Maintenance & Components**
Before service, some controls had scratchy or intermittent contact noise, and the bridge pickup volume potentiometer was completely seized. The output jack contacts, pickup selector toggle switch, and potentiometers were cleaned and treated to remove oxidation. The toggle switch and potentiometers were disassembled as needed; the potentiometer resistance tracks were cleaned with electronic contact cleaner, and the contact wipers were cleaned. The seized bridge volume potentiometer was disassembled, restored to normal rotation and operation, and retained rather than replaced.
Some wiring was temporarily disconnected and resoldered during maintenance; the solder joints should therefore not be regarded as untouched factory-original connections.
Pickup DC resistance: Neck approximately 7.91 kΩ; bridge approximately 7.99 kΩ. A pickup bears the marking “171125”; visible potentiometer markings include “504072” and “504042.” These are reference observations only and do not prove component dates or originality. The electrical components appear broadly period-appropriate, but their complete originality cannot be guaranteed. Photographs of the components were taken after servicing.
**Size & Weight**
Guitar weight: Approximately 3.56 kg
Combined weight of guitar and hard case: Approximately 6.4 kg
The combined weight does not include the outer shipping carton or additional protective packing materials.
The final shipping weight may differ depending on the packaging used.
**Included**

The hard case shows scratches, dirt, aging, and general signs of previous use.
It is included primarily as a protective transport case and complimentary accessory.
No specific collectible value or condition guarantee is provided for the hard case itself.
The guitar will be placed inside the hard case and carefully packed in an outer cardboard box for international shipment.
**Important Notice Regarding Vintage Instruments**
This is a nearly 50-year-old used instrument. The described condition and test results reflect its state at inspection. Temperature, humidity, vibration, and transportation may affect its setup or performance after shipment. Please review all photographs and bid with an understanding of the limitations of a vintage instrument.
**Shipping & Import Charges**
The item will be carefully packed and shipped from Japan using eLogi, an international shipping service that officially supports integration with Catawiki.
The shipping carrier will be selected according to the destination, shipping conditions, service availability, cost, and other relevant circumstances.
Depending on the destination and conditions at the time of shipment, FedEx, DHL, UPS, or another carrier available through eLogi may be used.
The final shipping carrier will be selected by the seller based on the most appropriate available shipping option for the destination.
Shipping is available only to countries and regions where an appropriate shipping service is available through eLogi and where the item can legally be accepted for import.
If no suitable shipping service is available for the buyer’s country, region, or address, or if applicable shipping or import requirements cannot be met, the order may be cancelled in accordance with Catawiki’s applicable policies and procedures.
Shipping costs are to be paid by the buyer.
Unless otherwise required by the selected carrier, destination country, or applicable Catawiki procedures, shipments will generally be sent under DDU/DAP terms.
Under DDU/DAP terms, import duties, customs clearance fees, carrier clearance or handling fees, taxes, and other import-related charges that are not already collected by Catawiki at the time of purchase are the responsibility of the buyer.
The seller does not cover import duties, taxes, customs fees, or other charges imposed by the destination country or carrier unless otherwise required under Catawiki’s applicable policies or the shipping service used.
Please note that customs regulations, import restrictions, tax requirements, and clearance procedures vary depending on the destination country.
Some items may be restricted or subject to specific import conditions in certain countries.
Before placing a bid, buyers are responsible for confirming that the item can be legally imported into their country and that an appropriate shipping service is available to their destination.
**Important Notice for Buyers in the European Union**
For eligible EU orders, Catawiki may collect import VAT from the buyer at checkout under the IOSS system or other applicable VAT arrangements.
Where import VAT has already been collected by Catawiki and the shipment qualifies for the applicable IOSS procedure, the same import VAT should not normally be charged again upon delivery, provided that the shipment is processed correctly under the applicable customs procedure.
The appropriate Catawiki-provided IOSS information will be used for eligible shipments where required.
Please note that the use of the IOSS procedure for VAT does not necessarily mean that the shipment is sent under DDP terms. Eligible shipments may still be sent under DDU/DAP terms.
Therefore, even where VAT has already been collected by Catawiki, import duties, customs handling charges, carrier clearance fees, administrative fees, or other import-related charges may still apply depending on the destination country and the circumstances of the shipment.
These charges are separate from VAT already collected by Catawiki and, where applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer.
EU customs, VAT, IOSS, and low-value import procedures may change over time, and their practical implementation may vary depending on the destination country, customs authority, carrier, and individual shipment.
As a result, EU deliveries may occasionally require additional customs procedures, documentation, charges, or processing time.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding regarding the evolving EU import and customs environment.
**Refused, Unclaimed, Undeliverable, Returned Shipments and Reshipping**
If a shipment is refused, unclaimed, undeliverable, returned to the seller, or cannot be completed due to circumstances attributable to the buyer—such as refusal of delivery, failure to pay applicable import duties, taxes, customs or carrier charges, failure to complete customs procedures, failure to respond to the carrier or customs authorities, failure to collect the shipment, or an incorrect or incomplete delivery address provided by the buyer—the matter will be handled in accordance with Catawiki’s applicable policies and procedures.
Any issues relating to refused delivery, non-delivery, undeliverable shipments, customs clearance failure, returns, reshipping, additional shipping costs, return-related charges, refunds, or cancellation will be handled in accordance with Catawiki’s applicable policies and, where necessary, through Catawiki Support.
The seller will not independently determine or process refunds, cancellations, reshipping arrangements, or other resolutions outside the procedures required by Catawiki.
Where reshipping is permitted under Catawiki’s applicable policies and procedures, the item may be reshipped at the buyer’s expense if the return or delivery failure was not caused by an error or omission on the seller’s side.
Reshipping will only be carried out after the returned item has been received and inspected by the seller and after any required arrangements and payments have been confirmed through the appropriate Catawiki process.
If the refusal, non-delivery, return, or delivery failure was caused by an error or omission on the seller’s side, the matter will likewise be handled in accordance with Catawiki’s applicable policies and procedures.
By placing a bid, the buyer agrees to check and comply with all applicable import regulations, customs requirements, taxes, duties, and fees in their country.
The seller cannot be held responsible for customs delays, import refusals, additional charges, or delivery problems resulting from local regulations or circumstances beyond the seller’s reasonable control, subject to Catawiki’s applicable policies and applicable law.
Orders may be cancelled if an appropriate shipping service is unavailable or if shipping or import conditions cannot be met, subject to Catawiki’s applicable policies and procedures.
We do not ship to P.O. BOX, APO, or FPO addresses.
