Vintage tabletop ashtray with a lid in the shape of a dog's head,(often described as a pointer, setter, or hound), produced in the USSR during the 1960s–1980s • Material: Manufactured via casting from silumin (an aluminum-silicon alloy). The surface was finished with a lacquer coating designed to create a patina, bronze, or blackened effect. • Construction: The upper part of the dog’s head is attached via a hinge and functions as a hinged lid. The lower section serves as an ash receptacle and is integrated into a saucer-like base, which features raised edges designed to hold cigarettes. Creator of the original model (19th century): The initial artistic model of this dog’s head was created by the renowned Russian animal sculptor Robert Romanovich Bach (1859–1933).
