Casket or box from the early 19th century (1800-1825). It is in as-found condition with various surface losses— which is not surprising for a more than 200-year-old object. The lid is decorated with a detailed pyrography (burnt-in designs) motif.

The arched lid is adorned with a cityscape, the monogram "FR," and two hearts — suggesting the box was created as a token of affection, perhaps a gift from a man to his future wife. A large crown sits at the top. The interior is lined with red paper, featuring an intricate pattern of hexagonal panels. It is possible that the box was once covered in paper bearing an ink-written inscription, as handwritten text on the front dating from around 1800 can still be seen on the front.
