This handmade Moroccan Boujaad rug is made from 100% wool through a careful, hands-on process. First, the wool yarn is prepared and the colours are selected. The artisan then plans the arrangement of the stripes and smaller motifs before building the design by hand. The rich red ground is crossed by narrow vertical lines in navy blue and yellow, with orange, green and cream accents. A band of small geometric details near the top adds another layer to the composition. The design develops gradually as the artisan works each area into the rug, bringing the colours and patterns together. Once weaving is complete, the edges and fringes are finished by hand, and the rug is checked before it is ready for its new home.
