This 18th Century exquisite and popular travel icon shows great detail in the iconography made following the strict cannons of Russian Sacred art. Represented here is a Russian Orthodox Cross kiot crucifixion with three horizontal crossbeams and the lowest one slanted to remind that "The Cross is a Scale of Justice". On the lowest slanted crossbeam is depicted the Jerusalem old city. Christ the Savior is represented on the upper part of the cross sided by a group of mourners; Saint Martha, The Virgin Mary on one side and Saint John the Evangelist and Saint Longinus on the other. Inmediatly above we see bowing angels with God and the Holy Spirit in heaven. On top of all these, we see 5 biblical scenes and 4 seraphin angels. Finally, at the bottom we find the skull of Adam in the Grotto. At the back, we can read biblical text in Russian. Relevant note: The exquisite quality of this artwork and its outstanding condition for its age, only a small crack at the back is present.
