一组三只复古金属医用注射器 - 镀镍钢
A collection of three vintage metal medical syringes dating to the early-to-mid 20th century the era when nickel-plated metal syringes were standard medical equipment before disposable plastic syringes became prevalent.
The largest has a fitting needle and sits in a sheath with pin designed to affix to a uniform to allow repeated use, it has an an adjustable ring at the top of the plunger which is adjusted according to the scale on the plunger to measure dosage correctly, this syringe and case measures 11.5cm in length.
The smallest in length at 7cm has a scale on the plunger graduated from 0-20 and the wording "DRP Schmidt" indicating German manufacture, with the "DRP" standing for "Deutsches Reichspatent" (German Reich Patent), used from 1877-1945 and Schmidt the manufacturer.
Schmidt was likely a German medical instrument manufacturer active during this period, producing precision metal syringes for medical use.
The last measures 7.2cm in length and also has a graduated plunger from 0-20 with a locking ring.
The nickel-plated construction and mechanical design are characteristic of syringes made from the 1920s and until the introduction of plastic syringes. They were made from 300-series stainless steel with nickel plating, materials chosen for their corrosion resistance, sterilisation capability, and biocompatibility.
The precision threading and mechanical components reflect high-quality German and British engineering standards of the period.
