Description
A fine pair of Japanese eggshell porcelain lidded cups with matching saucers, from the Meiji period (1868–1912). Each piece is extremely thinly potted and finely decorated in vibrant polychrome enamels, depicting two samurai warriors in exquisite detail.
All pieces are marked Hichozan Shinpo-sei 肥碟山信甫造, a renowned Arita ware workshop active during the Meiji era. The refined eggshell porcelain and the quality of the painting make this pair a rare and decorative set of Japanese porcelain.
