Beautiful framed photograph of Pope Pius XI (1857–1939), featuring his hand-signed autograph in ink and the original embossed Vatican seal on the lower left corner. The portrait was taken by the renowned Vatican photographer G. Felici (Roma), whose printed signature appears beneath the photo. The print also bears the original Italian embossment “Riproduzione Interdetta”, indicating no reproduction was allowed. According to provenance provided by the previous owner from Sweden, he inharited it from a rellative who collected Catholic and Vatican memorabilia. According to family history, this type of signed photograph was distributed during the Holy Year Jubilee of 1925 in St. Peter’s Basilica to high ranking clergy as a commemorative gift. Condition: Good vintage condition – the photograph is well preserved with a clear autograph and seal. The original wooden frame shows minor scratches and signs of age consistent with nearly a century of history. No restorations noted.
