This beautiful cylindrical shaped vase from the original mould-design by Leon Hallet, bears the model name "ALTENA". It is made in 2020 by Val Saint Lambert in a brilliant red colour and clear crystal. The Altena model refers to the shape whereas the design would be left to the inspiration of the designer. In this case the stunning, modern design is from Rowena Forrest, Artistic Director of Val Saint Lambert. She is also daughter of the Belgian/Congolese businessman George Forrest, who in 2018 took over the crystal factory of Val Saint Lambert. It can be seen from the quality and appearance of the vase that this talented lady can deliver top workmanship to achieve this result. The red and clear sections, in reliéf, are ground out by machine and hand, resulting in a design of squares and stripes standing proud from a clear crystal background. This famous Belgian factory uses a high quality crystal of 33% load-oxide, instead of the normal 24%, to ensure a clear and sparkling brilliance. This magnificent vase is no exception, it sparkles in the light and is in absolute MINT condition. The unusual base is star-shaped and hand-signed "Val St. Lambert" "M" (meaning "Maitre" or Master Craftsman). An original factory label is long gone but a remnant remains (can be removed if desired by new owner). A conspicuous, top quality addition to a glass and crystal collection.
