A superb antique scent bottle with hinged lid, measuring circa 7cm in height and weighing 46g, the fluted baluster shaped body chiseled to depict ribboned garlands and gilt to the interior, the foot fitted with hinged compartment for a coin, intended for use during Sunday church service. Engraved to the underside with initials and dated 1808. No assay marks, possible maker´s initials chiseled into the rim. Acid test shows strong red line indicating high silver content. An old perfume sponge is still present in the scent bottle. Condition: Lid finial with dents, otherwise good. Minor wear.
