A fine large Imperial Russian 84 silver wine ewer/pitcher made in St. Petersburg in 1892 Height: 33 cm.,, Capacity: approx. 1000 ml., Weight: 547 g. The ewer is richly decorated with hand-engraved floral and ornamental motifs around the entire body. The front bears a commemorative inscription dated April 30, 1892, reading: "To Alexander Dmitrievich Klementiev from the Elizavetgrad Regiment on the occasion of the 50th anniversary." – see photo No5. Hallmarks (on the base)-see the last 4 photo: • 84 zolotniki (Russian silver standard, equivalent to 875 fineness) • Assayer’s initials “A.C.” – Aleksandr Sevjer (Postnikova Catalogue No. 1194) • Maker’s initials “PJS” (unidentified silversmith, Postnikova Catalogue No. 1827), possibly PJS - Pekka Silvennoinen • St. Petersburg city mark (anchor symbol) • Date mark for 1892 Condition: Very good collector’s state, without restorations, holes, or major dents. Preserved with a fine, original grey patina consistent with age. The interior shows traces of original partial gilding, typical for high-quality presentation silver of the period. A superb and historically significant piece of Imperial Russian presentation silver, combining elegant craftsmanship with regimental provenance. From an old European collection.
