This beautiful carboniferous fossil matrix shows a best quality Cyclopteris leaf from Neuropteris ovata. Magnificent contrast! On the backside there are a lot of Neuropteris ovata plant parts. The matrix is an iron clay stone, so the stone material is volcanic ash that covered the fossils in an instant that time and therefore the plants were preserved perfectly. The stone was found by myself in November 2025 in the district Moselle in France. Found in rest material that came out of the former coal mines in this region. The fossil is between 309 and 302 million years old.
