Viet Ha Tran - The Golden Lotus Lake - XL - 197th Annual Exhibition Royal Scottish Academy

This artwork was part of 197th Annual Exhibition (May-June 2023), Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture. This art photograph was created based on photography and digital techniques using painting textures, inspired by the lacquer art of Vietnam. The lotus flower is regarded in many different (buddhist) cultures as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the lotus produces the most beautiful flower. Across Asia, many countries such as Vietnam, India embrace the lotus as the national flower and throughout history, the lotus flower has been a frequent presence in many forms of art such as paintings, architecture, and sculptures. The original photograph was taken in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is part of my award-winning series The Lotus Lake. This series won Honorable Mentions at the International Photography Awards 2013 and was published in many art magazines and national news, including Vogue Italia, Widewalls, Vietnam News, El Economista etc. The series was exhibited in Paris, Madrid, Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain), and especially at Saatchi Gallery in London, and auctioned by Christie's Hong Kong. This specific photograph has been exhibited at Ducal Palace of Medinaceli (Spain) and in Milan and Naples (Italy). Printed on Hahnemuhle German Etching 310 gsm. The photo is signed at the back and a certificate of authenticity will be included. The package will be sent by UPS in a carton tube, and insured by the seller. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE ARTIST: Board Member of the Royal Spanish Photographic Society (Madrid), Viet Ha Tran is a fine art photographer and multi-disciplinary artist who has been commissioned by Amazon USA, Louis Vuitton France and Vogue Italy. Her photographs have been featured on Expansión, El Economista, Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair France, The Times of India, The Hindu, Vietnam News, at Saatchi Gallery London, and were auctioned by Christie’s Hong Kong for charity. VIet Ha's works have appeared in physical public auctions in Spain alongside works by Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Banksy and Andy Warhol. Viet Ha was a Jury member of IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities at the prestigious IE University (Madrid, Spain) from 2016-2020. In 2023, Viet Ha became an art writer for IE Insight, the knowledge hub of IE and she co-authored the book "Ideas to shape the future" with her analytical article "The future of creating, collecting and curating visual arts". Before becoming an artist, she worked in education, banking, market intelligence, business development and government relations in Japan, Singapore, Vietnam and Spain for over 15 years. In 2020 she left the corporate world to pursue her artistic dreams as a full time career. Viet Ha was nominated in the top 200 Influential Vietnam Global Leaders 2019 (appointed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Embassy in Spain).
