珐琅广告牌【Marine,一种普通的胃肠药】复古日本风 - 广告标牌 - 搪瓷

Showa-era Enamel Sign "Marine, a General Gastrointestinal Medicine" "Marine" is a domestically produced gastrointestinal medicine manufactured and sold from the postwar period through the 1950s and 1960s. It is considered to be one of the products sold by companies such as "Marine Pharmaceuticals" and "Marine Pharmaceutical Industries." As the term "general gastrointestinal medicine" suggests, this sign was displayed in front of pharmacies and general stores nationwide, representing a wide range of gastrointestinal ailments, including indigestion, heartburn, stomach upset, and loss of appetite. The "red background with white text" color scheme in pharmaceutical advertisements symbolized "vitality," "trust," and "immediate effectiveness" in advertising designs of the time. The aim was for it to be easily visible from a distance, leaving an instant impression on passersby. In particular, the soft and friendly katakana name "Marine" conveyed the image of a "modern and stylish medicine" amid the postwar "Westernization" boom, and stood out from previous kanji-based drug names (such as "Ohta's Isan" and "Mitake Hyakusougan"). In the 1950s, many Japanese families still could not afford to go to the doctor, so having a regular medicine on hand was a symbol of peace of mind for the home. During that time, "Marine Gastrointestinal Medicine" was widely distributed, from local shopping districts to mountain pharmacies, as a reliable remedy for stomach problems caused by changes in diet or stress. Signs were displayed on the walls and eaves of pharmacies, reassuring people that "you can buy Marine here." Enamel signs are made by baking a glassy glaze onto iron plate, and their lustrous red color is achieved by high-temperature firing. The color has not faded over time, and even today they retain their vividness as if they were made yesterday. The word "Marine" is written in bold, angled typeface, creating a design that exudes movement and clarity even among the advertising typefaces of the time. The sign's craftsman's careful brushwork has been preserved forever through firing, making it a work of art. [Size] 44.5x10cm [Condition] Good vintage condition. Although it shows signs of use, the letters and designs remain clearly visible. Please check the photos. Any taxes related to international shipping must be borne by the purchaser. Occasionally, customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you for customs clearance via phone or email. Kindly ensure you are available to respond. Failure to do so may result in the parcel being returned to me, incurring additional shipping fees for reshipment. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. I will pack the item securely, but there may be cases where the item is repackaged at customs or damaged upon arrival due to a mistake by the shipping company. If this happens, please contact me immediately. Please promptly send me a photo of the item when it arrives and a photo of the damage to the item. We will provide refunds depending on the situation.

Showa-era Enamel Sign "Marine, a General Gastrointestinal Medicine"

"Marine" is a domestically produced gastrointestinal medicine manufactured and sold from the postwar period through the 1950s and 1960s.
It is considered to be one of the products sold by companies such as "Marine Pharmaceuticals" and "Marine Pharmaceutical Industries."

As the term "general gastrointestinal medicine" suggests,
this sign was displayed in front of pharmacies and general stores nationwide, representing a wide range of gastrointestinal ailments, including indigestion, heartburn, stomach upset, and loss of appetite.

The "red background with white text" color scheme in pharmaceutical advertisements
symbolized "vitality," "trust," and "immediate effectiveness" in advertising designs of the time.

In the 1950s, many Japanese families still could not afford to go to the doctor,
so having a regular medicine on hand was a symbol of peace of mind for the home.
