限量版石版画——“波斯猫兄弟姐妹” - 纸 - Kiyondo Ozawa 小澤清人 (b.1950) - 日本 - Heisei period (1989-present)
Offered here is a captivating limited edition lithograph titled "Persian Cat Siblings" by Japanese artist Kiyondo Ozawa (小澤清人). This hand-signed and numbered work showcases four fluffy Persian kittens nestled together on what appears to be a woven basket, set against a soft teal-blue background. The kittens’ expressive, round yellow eyes and subtly varied postures create a whimsical and endearing scene that reflects both the individuality and close bond of the feline siblings.
The artist employs delicate linework and a muted yet evocative color palette to bring out texture and depth, highlighting the softness of the cats' fur and the quiet atmosphere surrounding them. The dark, slightly abstract branches arching over the kittens add a touch of compositional drama, while maintaining a playful tone.
This is print number 5 from a limited edition of 100, pencil-signed by the artist in the lower right margin and numbered “5/100” in the lower left. It is presented in a simple yet elegant dark wood frame with a white mat, which complements the tones of the print beautifully.
Condition note:
The artwork and frame show minimal signs of age, such as slight discoloration and faint surface spots. Several small foxing marks can be observed in the margins, typical for works on paper of this age, but these do not detract from the main image.
Dimensions:
Frame Size: H49.2 cm × W61.2 cm
Image Size: H27.5 cm × W38.0 cm
About Kiyondo Ozawa (小澤清人)
Born in 1950 in Tokyo, Kiyondo Ozawa emerges as a distinguished Japanese painter whose career spans decades of artistic achievement. He graduated from the Musashino Art University (武蔵野美術大学) in 1973, following his first successful acceptance into the prestigious Nikaten (二科展) in 1971.
Over the years, Ozawa has built a remarkable exhibition and accolades record. In 1978 he was awarded the “Newcomer Prize” at the Modern Dōga Exhibition (現代童画展), where he first exhibited. Five years later, in 1983, he received the “Grand Prize” at the same exhibition — cementing his status as a leading figure in the modern Japanese painting scene.
Throughout his career, Ozawa has held several solo painting exhibitions, notably in 1990, 1994, and 1997 at Ōmiya (Seibu department store), bringing his vision and artistry directly to the public.
Today, Ozawa serves as the president of the Modern Dōga Association (現代童画会), a testament to his enduring role in shaping contemporary Japanese art.
His body of work combines technical skill and emotional resonance, ranging from evocative figurative scenes to intimate portraiture and imaginative, sometimes nostalgic compositions. Some pieces — such as the painting “大宮機関区” (from 1976) — have even been donated to public institutions and are displayed for the community.
For the collector or connoisseur, an original work by Kiyondo Ozawa carries with it a legacy: decades of acclaim, institutional recognition, cultural relevance, and the oversight of an artist deeply rooted in Japanese modern painting tradition.
