This is an elegant Japanese Takaoka bronze vase crafted in Toyama Prefecture and signed by the metalwork artist Gōshō (剛章). The vase features a richly detailed phoenix (鳳凰/ hōō) motif in relief, a symbol deeply rooted in Japanese decorative arts. In East Asia, the phoenix is traditionally regarded as an auspicious emblem, representing harmony, peace, and renewal. Its presence on bronze vessels is associated with wishes for prosperity and longevity. This symbolism also makes bronze pieces featuring the phoenix especially desirable among collectors. The vase displays a beautiful patinated finish with nuanced green and amber tones. The artist’s signature is impressed on the underside (see photos). An original plain wooden box (without inscription) is included.
