A striking medium-sized six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with 9 well-known facsimile woodblock prints of several famous artists, set on a silver-leaf background. The ukiyo-e 浮世絵 (woodblock prints) are images of beautiful woman and actors. Some background information about a few woodblock prints; Two yakusha-e役者絵 (actor prints) designs by Tôshûsai Sharaku 東洲斎 写楽`. Two benizuri-e 紅刷絵 (crimson printed pictures) warrior prints designs by Torii Kiyomasu 鳥居 清倍 and Torii Kiyomitsu I. And a bijin-ga 美人画 (beautiful person picture) a design of Kitao Shigemasa 北尾 重政. The screen is protected by a black lacquered frame. And it is in a good condition, with some signs of age and wear, mainly on the back side. The reverse with paper restorations.
