Obverse: Head of Heracles (Hercules) facing right, wearing the lion-skin headdress of the Nemean lion — a powerful emblem of strength and Alexander’s divine ancestry from Zeus through Heracles. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding an eagle in his right hand and sceptre in his left. Greek legend “ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ” (ALEXANDROU) vertically to the right.
