Walking Cane with Natural Horn Handle and Engraved Silver Collar – London 1935
Handsome gentleman’s walking cane dating to 1935, featuring a naturally curved horn handle with warm caramel and dark brown shading. The handle has a pleasing organic form and a smooth surface, typical of quality horn craftsmanship from the early twentieth century.
The silver collar is fully hallmarked for London, 1935, and is decorated with fine hand engraving in a scrolling foliate pattern. The maker’s mark is present and legible, alongside the lion passant and date letter. The engraving is crisp and decorative, giving the cane an elegant period character.
The shaft is made of hardwood with its original black lacquer finish. The lacquer shows noticeable wear from age and use, revealing the grain in places and giving the cane a well-aged patina. The cane ends in a traditional wooden ferrule consistent with the period.
The horn handle is in good condition with minor surface marks and natural variations in colour. The silver collar displays light dents, shallow impressions and surface wear appropriate for its age, yet the hallmarks and engraving remain clear. The shaft shows considerable cosmetic wear to the lacquer, including abrasions and areas of loss, but it remains structurally sound and straight. No signs of restoration are visible.
A characterful English walking cane combining natural horn, engraved silver and an appealing period aesthetic. It will be securely packaged and shipped with tracking.
