Northwest Africa 17583 (NWA 17583) Purchased: 2024 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: The meteorite was initially purchased by Brahim Muftah in 2024 from a meteorite hunter in Southern Algeria and subsequently acquired by Mohamed Ali Loud. Physical characteristics: Several grayish fragments. Petrography: The meteorite shows a chondritic texture with well-defined, partly flattened, partly packed chondrules (mean diameter about 0.9 mm) in a fine-grained dark grayish matrix that contains sulfides and less abundant FeNi metal.
