This expression is made from pure Merlot grapes, an international variety that has adapted well to this area. The grapes come from vines trained with high planting densities and low yields using the espalier method and Guyot pruning. The vineyards are shallow and rich in gravel, characterized by soils with little clay but reddish due to the presence of iron oxides. The winery, which owns approximately 26 hectares of vineyards, is a family-run business managed by Giorgio Badin, a keen experimenter who, thanks to the application of eco-sustainable criteria, has brought Ronco del Gelso to national and international prominence in just a few years. The "Sintesi dei Capitoli" Merlot is produced from hand-harvested grapes, carefully selected at peak ripeness. The grapes, brought to the cellar, are gently destemmed and crushed before undergoing alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with long maceration on the skins for approximately 20 days. The wine is then racked and pressed from the skins, after which it ages for at least 24 months in 25-hectoliter oak barrels before being bottled and released for sale.
