Arne Jacobsen’s Cylinda-Line series for Stelton, launched in 1967, became an immediate success, winning Danish and international design awards in the late 1960s. His innovative use of lightly brushed, seamless stainless steel in pure, clean cylindrical forms was a sensation and has remained popular ever since. A true Danish design classic and perfect example of Scandinavian minimalism. This cocktail and bar set comprises examples from AJ's Stelton Cylinda Line and from Peter Holmblad's Stelton Original series, mostly vintage pieces, in good condition. The set includes a circular serving tray (33.5x2.5cm), a sleek cylindrical lidded ice bucket (14x14x12cm; 1 litre) with matching ice tongs (19x4.4x2.4cm), a martini mixer (19x7x7cm) with matching mixer spoon (perfect for stirring cocktails), a minimalistic cocktail shaker with strainer (22.8 x 8.5 cm; 0.75 litre), a Stelton corkscrew, a Stelton cocktail/spirit measure (3 cl.), a Stelton bottle opener, and a pair of matching Stelton ashtrays designed by Arne Jacobsen with a revolving semi-spherical, hinged top (6.5cm x 7.5cm), useful for serving nuts, olives or sweets, with hidden space underneath for debris such as olive stones or nutshells. The tray is in good condition, apart from a small dent on the underside which is not really visible when in use (see photo #7); the shaker is in generally excellent condition, with some light scratching on the upper side of the strainer insert (see photo #21); the mixer is in excellent condition, but is marked "sekunda" (2nd.) on the base (see photo #40), although no significant damage is visible; the ice bucket is in generally excellent condition, although there is some indistinct scratching to the lid (see photo #57); one ashtray is in good condition; the second ashtray has some staining to the inside (see photo #74); the spirit measure is marked II on the base (see photo #79). The items show variable light to moderate patina. This is reflected in the low reserve. These fantastic minimalistic pieces are aesthetically pleasing and would make a fine addition to any mid-century modernist collection.
