The composition unfolds in horizontal layers: a foreground of white snow, traditional dwellings with sloping roofs blanketed in white, and a backdrop of evergreen trees rendered in muted brown tones. The overcast sky creates a soft atmosphere. The work is signed in ink, numbered 23/500, dated 1993, and bears the artist's red seal. The print is presented in a mat and dark frame with green velvet backing visible. Artist Profile: Hiroki Hashimoto was born in 1950 in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. He established a career in advertising design before turning to printmaking in 1990. In 1993, he held a two-person exhibition in SoHo, New York. From 1995, he studied sumi ink painting fundamentals five times at the Hebei Academy of Fine Arts in Shijiazhuang, China. In 2000, he became the academy's first foreign guest painter and held a solo exhibition at the Beijing Museum of Art, where one of his works entered the permanent collection. He was invited to exhibit at the 43rd Japan Print Association Exhibition in 2002 and became a member after three consecutive invited exhibitions. In 2005, he received the Mabuchi Prize at the 46th Japan Print Association Exhibition. In 2007, he was invited to Euro Print and exhibited at the Bulgaria International Print Exhibition with works acquired by the National Museum of Foreign Art. In 2009, he won the Banka Prize at the 50th Japan Print Association Exhibition. In 2012, he received the Excellence Award at the Ueno Royal Museum Exhibition and the Minister for Foreign Affairs Prize at the Japan-China Friendship 40th Anniversary Ink Painting Exhibition. In 2013, he was awarded the Minister of Education Prize at the 54th Japan Print Association Exhibition. He is currently a director of the Japan Print Association and guest painter at Hebei Academy of Fine Arts. Hashimoto has developed a distinctive genre called "bokusaiga" (ink color painting), combining traditional sumi ink techniques with original coloration, focusing on landscapes of Fukushima.
