After dedicating nearly 50 years of his life to Douro winemaking, José António Castro Ramos Pinto Rosas decided to fulfill his dream of building the "perfect estate" for producing Port and Douro wines. After a long and detailed study of the Douro Demarcated Region and with the help of topographical maps, José Rosas discovered a property of approximately 20 hectares in the Upper Douro near Vila Nova de Foz Côa, which, due to its characteristics, he believed had the ideal conditions for producing superior wines. Today, Jorge Rosas, son of José Rosas and great-grandson of Adriano Ramos Pinto, founder of the eponymous house, continues this legacy. Grape Varieties: 65% Touriga Nacional and 35% Touriga Franca. Tasting Notes: Good concentration, deep purple color. Fine and very complex aromas. Good fruit character, with a predominance of floral notes, later evolving into spicy and complex notes, due to the aging in wood. On the palate, it displays fruit, complexity, harmony, and elegance stemming from the excellent tannins, which give it a very silky feel and a very long finish. The combination of balanced acidity and an excellent concentration of wild berries will certainly contribute to long aging, so the wine could benefit from a few years of bottle aging. Balanced, elegant, and persistent finish. Vinification: Grapes harvested in small boxes of approximately 20 kg with perfect phenolic ripeness. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats at controlled temperature. Aged for 15 months in new 225-liter French oak barrels. 55% new wood and 45% second-year wood. Expected aging potential: 15 years Serving suggestions: Pairs well with red meat, game, or traditional Portuguese sausages. Serve at 18°C ​​with prior decanting.
