Graham's - Over 40 years old Tawny - 杜罗 - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Graham’s 40 Years Old Tawny Port 1 x 0.75L 1 Bottle Port Wine WINEMAKER: Charles Symington. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 96 Points, Wine Spectator 96 Points, Gold Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast 94 Points, Jamie Goode 92 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine 18.5 Points, Vinum Magazine WINE VARIETIES: Traditional from Douro Region. VINIFICATION Building on more than 200 years of winemaking experience, our Aged Tawny Ports are an homage to the craftsmanship and time-honoured skills, handed down across generations, that go in to producing each bottle. The unmistakable character of our Aged Tawny Ports can be attributed to the mastery of three unique arts: the arts of cooperage, ageing and blending. A testament to time, Graham’s 40 year Old is a witness to immemorial tradition. Graham’s Master Blender composes this blend from wines put to aside in the cellar by his great-grand-father, grand-father, father and uncles. He also sets aside wines for future generations. For those who appreciate the taste of time. TASTING NOTES Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny shows a golden amber colour, with a pale green tinge at the rim, denoting great age. On the nose, it is very complex with a powerful fragrance that belies its age. On the palate, it reveals an array of flavours, from delicate fruit & raisins to toasted toffee & chocolate with an outstanding aftertaste. SERVING Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny should be enjoyed slightly chilled as a dessert in its own right or pairs extremely well with mature cheeses, nuts or creamy desserts. HISTORY Originally trading in textiles, William and John Graham accepted 27 barrels of port in payment of an outstanding debt in 1820. Inspired by this wine, they decided to devote their energy to producing the best port wines from the Douro Valley, and this was how Graham’s Port was born. One of the first port brands to buy land in the Upper Douro Valley, Quinta dos Malvedos was acquired in 1890. Malvedos has been a cornerstone of our wines ever since – a truly unique estate with an outstanding reputation for producing exceptional wines. 1890 was also the year that the Graham’s Lodge was built in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river from Porto. Benefiting from a cooler maritime climate, it remains the ideal place to age our wines. It has been our home away from the Douro ever since, and now welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Andrew James Symington’s grandchildren, the 3rd generation of the Symington family acquired Graham’s in 1970 and this new chapter was marked with the production of the 1970 Vintage Port – one of the most celebrated vintages of the 20th century. Graham’s, together with the Symington family’s other port houses - Cockburn’s, Dow’s and Warre’s - remain the only British port companies independently owned by a single family. In 2020, we celebrated Graham’s bicentenary – 200 years dating back to William and John Graham in 1820. To commemorate this special occasion, we released our Bicentenary Collection. PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
