卖家的描述
Offered without reserve price: 1925 Indian Scout
- Formerly owned by the Mille Miglia racing driver Carlo Leto di Priolo
- Beautifully authentic
- Historic Indian model
- No Reserve Price
GENERAL:
A 1925 Indian Scout, one of the most significant and desirable American motorcycles of the interwar era. The Scout was technically advanced for its time and became known for its robust engineering and balanced performance. This example benefits from distinguished Italian provenance and remains in authentically restored, truly enviable condition.
MECHANICAL:
The Scout is fitted with its classic and correct period specification, featuring a 600cc side-valve V-twin, a three-speed gearbox, and a geared primary drive. The model’s design was notably sophisticated for the 1920s, with features such as its distinctive suspension layout and highly durable drivetrain concept.
This motorcycle has been a museum piece. It starts and runs and will receive a service before delivery.
HISTORY & DOCUMENTATION:
Little is known about the Indian’s earliest years. However, the motorcycle is accompanied by an original Italian service booklet, including a stamp from 1947 and numerous additional stamps and dates, providing valuable historical continuity.
The documented ownership history includes:
August 7, 1959: Registered to Santo Cassaneo Cassano in Adda, with registration number MI 324382.
1969: Purchased by racing driver Carlo Leto di Priolo, known for competing in major endurance events in the 1950s, including the Giro di Sicilia and the Mille Miglia. He notably finished 9th in the 1954 Mille Miglia, driving cars from Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Abarth.
1973: Acquired by Umberto Panini.
Under Panini’s ownership, the motorcycle underwent a restoration that preserved its authenticity, resulting in the outstanding condition seen today.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This Scout still carries its ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) certification plate, number 0165, confirming its historic character. With its rare model status, excellent presentation, and notable Italian provenance, this is a highly attractive opportunity for collectors who value authenticity, documentation, and cultural significance.
We always recommend viewing the motorcycle in person to fully appreciate its condition, originality, and presence.
Additional services:
Transport: We can arrange transport for you, both open and closed.
Export: We offer full export support.
