花瓶 - 木 - 日本 - Meiji period (1868-1912)
A fine Japanese lacquered jubako (stacked bento box), known as “Goteiju” (御提重), featuring an auspicious gold maki-e (sprinkled picture) design of cranes and pine trees – both traditional symbols of longevity and good fortune in Japan.
The piece includes its original wooden storage box (tomobako), which bears a period label in classic script.
The craftsmanship, composition, and materials suggest it dates from the late Edo to early Meiji period (c.1850–1870s).
※ Although compact in size, this piece showcases exceptionally fine craftsmanship and delicate maki-e detailing, making it a highly refined and valuable work.
