Hōnen-in Temple(法然院) - Ido Masao 井堂雅夫 (1945-2016) - 日本 (没有保留价)

Item Description (English): This is a captivating woodblock-style print by the esteemed Japanese artist Masao Ido (井堂雅夫), titled "Hōnen-in Temple" (法然院), from the acclaimed Kyoto Hyakkei (京都百景) series, specifically the Rakutō Jikkei (洛東十景) collection. The artwork depicts the serene stone steps leading to the tranquil Honen-in Temple in Kyoto, nestled in a forested environment. Scattered camellia blossoms add vibrant touches of red to the calm blue-gray stone steps, enhancing the poetic and seasonal beauty of the scene. Masao Ido masterfully captures the peaceful spirit of this sacred place with a harmonious balance of natural colors and delicate composition. This print is a fine example of Ido’s signature style, which evokes nostalgia and reverence for Japan’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Artist's Comment: Hōnen-in Temple Heading south from the Silver Pavilion Temple's mountain gate along a narrow path, Hōnen-in Temple sits right beside the mountain. Maples and other trees stand in rows, casting deep shadows along the approach. True to its founder, the Venerable Hōnen who pioneered the path of Nembutsu, it is a temple that inspires a sense of peace. I felt compelled to paint the scene after the rain. Scattered camellia blossoms lay upon the stone steps. Beyond the thatched mountain gate, a world seemed to glow. The rain had soaked into the trees and grass along the approach, deepening the sense of stillness. The scene after the rain seemed to soak into my own heart and body as well. Another camellia blossom scattered upon the rain-soaked approach. Size: Approximately 36 cm × 26 cm Artist Profile: Masao Ido (井堂雅夫, 1945–2016) was a renowned Japanese printmaker known for his tranquil and evocative depictions of Japanese landscapes. Born in Manchuria and later based in Kyoto, Ido studied under Koho Nishikawa. His works are noted for their soft color gradations, minimalistic elegance, and ability to convey the quiet beauty of traditional Japan. His art has been widely exhibited and is highly valued by collectors both in Japan and internationally. **PLEASE NOTE** Shipping Information: Items are shipped from Japan.
