香炉 - 黄铜色 - 日本的香炉

An exquisite Japanese bronze incense burner (kōro) from the Meiji period, featuring finely cast details of playful child figures supporting the vessel and a serene monk seated atop the lid. The craftsmanship beautifully captures the spirit of Japanese metalwork from the late 19th to early 20th century, where artistry and symbolism intertwine. Each element— the smiling children symbolizing good fortune and the monk embodying tranquility — is meticulously sculpted, with a rich patina that has deepened gracefully over time. The lid and handles are adorned with delicate rope motifs, enhancing the sense of harmony and balance typical of Meiji-era bronze art. It comes complete with its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), further affirming its authenticity and collectible value. Such pieces were often displayed in temples or the homes of affluent families, reflecting both aesthetic refinement and spiritual devotion. Dimensions: approx. 13 cm (height), 12 cm (width). Condition: Excellent antique condition with minor age-related wear. Period: Meiji (1868–1912). A superb example of Japan’s rich metal-casting tradition — elegant, symbolic, and highly collectible.
