This type is one of the few examples of a copper cash coin with a silver face value. The Yongli Tongbao was a coin minted by the Southern Ming Gui Prince regime. The Sanfan Jishi Benmo (Chronicle of the Three Feudatories) provides a relatively clear account of this: "The Yongming Prince, grandson of Emperor Shenzong, fled to Wuzhou and changed the era name to 'Yongli' in the year Bingxu (1646 AD)."
