The "Long-Tailed Parent-and-Child Turtle" is an auspicious motif depicting a parent turtle and its young together, often used in designs for kimono obi sashes (fukuro obi) and metal crafts as a symbol of longevity and good fortune. It is particularly depicted as a minogame, featuring a long-tailed turtle (an adult turtle) and a young turtle, It is often combined with auspicious "Kotobuki" (Longevity) characters or mist patterns to form a吉祥文様 (kisshō monyō) or auspicious design. This is a traditional Japanese pattern embodying the symbolism of the turtle's longevity and the wish for parent-child harmony and the prosperity of descendants.
Signed on the underside with a circle seal cartouche and the characters 光勝 (“Mitsukatsu”).
