This is a wooden statue of a boy made by sculptor Konishi Hisanobu 小西久信.
The piece depicts a scene from everyday life, in which a mischievous boy wearing a paper helmet and holding a wooden sword is playing samurai.
The title is "Kami Kabuto 紙兜(Paper Helmet)." The bottom is inscribed with the words "Made by Hisanobu."
It is thought to be a work from the Taisho to early Showa period, approximately 100 years ago.
It is rare to see sculptures of Japanese boys. This is an extremely rare, one-of-a-kind piece.
