A finely carved and gilt wooden figure of Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche, seated on a throne with his left foot resting on a lotus, his right leg raised and crossed, wearing a long robes, jewels and a crown, his hands in Karana mudra, the gesture of protection. Padmasambhava is considered to be an apparition or emanation of the Shakyamuni Buddha himself, and seen as the bringer of Buddhism to Tibet. Condition: Two fingers of his left hand chipped, otherwise very good, no further damages or repairs. Minimal wear commensurate with age.
