This term generally refers to the Kinrante style, characterized by underglaze blue, overglaze red, and gold embellishment. The period from the late Edo to the Meiji era marked the peak of Japanese export porcelain. A highly effective method for determining the age or maker of pottery is through the "pottery mark," also known as the base mark. Currently, the base marks I've observed often include the kiln, the maker's name, or a specially designed logo by the maker.
