Byōbu屏風 - 一幅六扇折叠屏风,描绘湖畔景色,唐代贵族的场景。 - Signed - 日本 - 江户-明治时期(19世纪中叶)
A Japanese six-panel folding screen painted in sumi ink on paper with subtle applications of gold dust, depicting an expansive lakeside landscape animated by small groups of figures engaged in outdoor activities.
In the background, softly outlined mountains emerge through light, fluid brushstrokes, gradually dissolving into mist.
The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
---The byobu is in good condition, with minor age-related wear. The paper shows some holes across the surface, as well as minor stains, small paper restorations, and slight pigment losses consistent with age and use. A small loss in the upper left area of metal fittings. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
