For this series, the family-run company draws inspiration from the urban legends of its home country. The 35-year-old bottling combines 50-year-old rum from the distillery founder's hand with distillate from 1990. The final blend has matured since 1990 in Ecuador's capital Quito, 2,850 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Andes. With 237 bottles, this Single Cask Edition is particularly rare and was bottled at cask strength, uncoloured, unsweetened and non-chill-filtered, thus preserving the original character of the rum. Each bottle is a tribute to the legend of Cantuña, the indigenous master builder who made a pact with the devil but cancelled it through a cunning act.
