The Plissée series was originally introduced in 1968 and remains one of Rosenthal’s most iconic lines. The design’s name plissée refers to the pleated-fabric effect that gives the porcelain surface a rhythmic texture and sculptural presence. Made in white matte porcelain, the vases exemplify mid-century modern aesthetics and Rosenthal’s studio-line philosophy of combining artistic innovation with high-quality craftsmanship. This trio showcases the distinctive pleated surface and refined silhouettes that make Plissée sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts alike. Martin Freyer (1909–1974) was a German painter, graphic artist and industrial designer, also known for creating the original Volkswagen emblem and working across architecture, graphic and product design.
