In 1947, he joined Iwata Glass and later held his first solo exhibition at Ueno Matsuzakaya in 1957. He went on to exhibit at Takashimaya and numerous prestigious venues, both in Japan and internationally. A pioneer of Japan’s studio glass movement, Fujita developed distinctive techniques such as “flowing glass” (ryūdō garasu) and intricate gold-leaf embellishments. His works often reference traditional Japanese motifs, reinterpreted through modern forms and Venetian influences. He served as President of the Japan Glass Artcrafts Association and received numerous honors, including the Order of the Rising Sun, Japan Art Academy Prize, and Cultural Order of Merit.
