Zoo York Y. Nagasaki Koyu Shuppan/1993/Japanese/260*210*10 Zoo York / Fen no Nariori” is a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Y. Nagasaki, who was born in Niigata Prefecture in 1952 and moved to the United States after graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University. After graduating from Long Island University in New York, he entered the photography department of New York University, where he studied under the tutelage of Marie Ellen Mark, one of America's leading female photographers. As if following in her footsteps, Nagasaki's subjects have always been minorities outside the mainstream, such as prostitutes (and their husbands), gays, lesbians, homeless people, punks, drug addicts, and AIDS sufferers.
