Otagaki Rengetsu (January 8, 1791 (February 10, Kansei 4) - December 10, 1875 (Meiji 8)) was a nun, poet, and potter in the late Edo period. He was commonly known as En, Bosatsu, and Intoku. His ceramic works, in which he carved waka poetry into them with a nail, are known as "Rentaku ware" and are so highly regarded that they have become popular Kyoto souvenirs.
