Roman-Egyptian 用纺织品包裹的玻璃,持有西班牙出口许可证,面向欧洲共同体。 - 22 cm

This extraordinary glass vessel, dated between the 4th and 5th centuries AD and attributed to the Roman Empire, stands out for its preservation with fabric wrappings, an unusual feature that suggests storage, transport or even funerary ritual practices. With dimensions of 22 cm high and 8 cm wide, the piece is part of the Roman tradition of producing blown glass, used to contain liquids such as perfumes, oils or medicines. The design of the bottle is particularly interesting: its base is globular and stable, while the neck is remarkably long and thin, suggesting a use intended for the controlled dosing of the liquid contained. This type of bottle was common in Late Antiquity, especially in domestic and funerary contexts, where similar examples have been found in Roman and Byzantine necropolises. The most striking feature of the piece is the attached fabric wrapping, which is firmly fixed to the glass. This could indicate that the vessel was deliberately protected with cloth, either for preservation, to facilitate handling or as part of a ritual. The presence of organic material is rare in archaeological finds, making this specimen an exceptional testimony to the material practices of the period. Similar specimens have been found in sites in the eastern Mediterranean, as well as in museum collections such as the British Museum or the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, where glass vessels wrapped in cloth or remains of perishable materials are preserved, revealing details about their use and function in Roman daily life. Acquired from a Spanish private collection, D.R.R, 1980. -The piece includes an authenticity certificate as well as Spanish Export License (Passport for European Union). IMPORTANT: Due to the new laws on the export of archaeological pieces, we have decided to NO LONGER sell outside the European territory for the following countries: SWITZERLAND & UNITED STATES of AMERICA. For other destinations out of European territory: all our items will be shipped after obtaining a definitive LICENSE EXPORTATION by the Ministry of Culture of Spain. We inform our clients that it may take between 4-8 weeks. According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subjected to export taxes. The taxes will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price, and the tax rate is not applied directly to the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it: Up to 6,000 euros: 5%. / From 6.001 to 60.000 euros: 10 %. Please note that for far destination (Asia, middle east etc.. ), there will be an additional cost for the shipping.
