An old handmade wool Afghan room size rug circa 1940 measuring 290 x 230 cm ( 9.5 x 7.5 ft ). Rows of Gul Motifs in dark brown and copper field having similar narrow borders. Weave indicates this Afghan rug is a good quality one with soft wool and fine foundation. It is clean and although has some minor wear otherwise in good condition despite its age. There are some abrash wool colours at one end since these rugs were made with vegetable dyed wool in which the colours might be somewhat slightly brighter or darker in places. Lovely decorative piece.
