Provenance: Collection passed on to me by mother (P.M.Shaw) in 2009 Given to her by J.G.Judd who acquired piece part of a strand of many depictions and amulets from Cairo dealer 14-05-1977. - with copy original invoice available. DHL or ROYAL MAIL Signed and tracked. This laying hippopotamus is depicted with its head turned to the side and its mouth open. This could either indicate that the hippo is roaring, or baring its teeth, which hippos do when feeling threatened. Microscopic images have been added to display pigmentation and integrity of the core faience.
