古埃及,後期 蓝色瓷器 Djed Pillar Amulet (沒有保留價)
An Egyptian blue faience amulet depicting a djed pillar. The pillar has a rectangular shaft which slightly flares at the base. The top displays four rectangular ribs ending with a small protrusion on top, perforated for suspension. The reverse is flat and unadorned. Minor earthy encrustations and pitting to the surface. Some dark discolouration and loss of glaze to the obverse.
The Djed pillar amulet is one of the most recognisable symbols of ancient Egypt. With its link to Osiris, the djed symbolised stability, rejuvenation and regeneration. Thus, it was used by both the living and the dead and formed from a variety of materials. Blue faience, lapis lazuli and turquoise were common materials for djed pillars. The colour blue was further associated with regeneration and rebirth.
Measurements: L 2.8cm x W 1.2cm
